What can I expect BEFORE my Furgo session?

When scheduling a run, we generally require a few days' notice to secure a spot. Same-day appointments may not always be available, so it's best to plan ahead. We kindly request that you allot a 30-minute window before and after the scheduled time to accommodate for any unforeseen traffic or scheduling adjustments. Prior to your first session, we require a liability to be signed. Please read through it carefully. We ask that you take this time to give your furry friend a recent potty break, leash them up, and get them ready to go! It is important to select the proper harness for your dog, especially if you are involved in mill work or agitation sports. Harnesses such as "no pull" or fashion harnesses are not appropriate for these activities. Instead, we recommend "Y" front harnesses that are specifically designed by an animal physiotherapist. These harnesses allow for free movement, unrestricted shoulders, and eliminate throat pressure, ensuring your dog's safety and comfort. If you have a preferred harness, feel free to put it on your pet before their session. However, we do provide harnesses for safety and comfort during the run. Please ensure that any feedings are completed at least two hours before their session to avoid any discomfort or full bowels during the run.

What if my pup doesn't like other dogs?

Don't sweat it! With Furgo, your furry pal can have a paw-some cardio and mental workout all by themselves, no need to sniff out other pups. We can even take two dogs from the same fur-family or BFFs if they're pre-approved. Let's get ready to rumble!

Helping your Pup recover after a workout

After a good exercise session, you may notice your dog panting and sprawled out on the floor. This is perfectly normal, and it's important to wait for their heart rate to slow down before feeding them. Some dogs may experience a burst of energy afterward, which is also normal. Their endorphins and adrenaline are pumping, but once they relax and their heart rate slows, the extra energy will dissipate. For older or unconditioned dogs, it's a good idea to give their hind legs a massage to prevent soreness in the upcoming days. Who doesn't love a good doggie massage after a workout?

How long will it take for my dog to learn how to use a slatmill?

Typically, it will take your pup about 15 minutes, and we'll have them zigzagging and zooming on our equipment like a pro! Each dog is unique and some catch on quicker than others. The more they practice, the more they'll gain the confidence to rule the roost. Of course, we're right by their side, supervising every step of the way for their safety. Since our equipment is motor-free, your furry friend is free to follow their own pace and rhythm. We keep a watchful eye on their every move, taking the time to tailor the training to their unique needs and quirks. So let us know all about your pup's special needs, and we'll make sure they get the best custom training experience possible!

Will my dog be running full speed the entire session?

It's important to remember that each dog is unique! Some pups may take to exercise right away, while others may require a few sessions to build their self-confidence and become familiar with the equipment. One of the many advantages of using Furgo is that your dog doesn't have to run at full speed to receive a good workout. Even at a slow and steady pace, they'll be challenged by balancing, climbing inclines, and focusing throughout the session. This routine engages their mind, core, stability, and leg muscles, no matter what. Our Golden Rule: Always prioritize your dog's comfort and well-being.

Do I need to be home during a session?

We love to make introductions, so we suggest joining us for the first Trial Run session with your furry pal. This way, everyone can sniff out the good vibes and your pup can soak in all that positive reinforcement in the new surroundings. After that, we're happy to do the pick-up and drop-off at your door, no worries! Additionally, we are fully insured and bonded, and can retrieve and return your dog on our own for their sessions if you like. Let us know which option you prefer.
